Celebrating Women: Strength, Love, and the Power of Community

March is a month of empowerment, unity, and celebration—a time to honour the incredible women who inspire, support, and uplift us. This year, it kicked off in the most spectacular way with International Women’s Day, where I had the immense honour of designing, creating, and installing breath-taking floral displays for the main stage in Milton Keynes.

Setting the Stage on Fire with Peacock Colours

For this momentous occasion, I chose a bold and vibrant palette—peacock colours—symbolizing the strength, beauty, and diversity of women. Whether your favourite colour is yellow, pink, blue, green, or a rainbow of hues, these displays represented the fiery spirit of every woman in the room. As over 500 inspiring women gathered, my floral art became the backdrop to a day filled with powerful voices and transformative stories.

Unforgettable Voices That Moved the Room

Two phenomenal speakers left an indelible mark on me and the audience:
✨ Jaz Ampaw-Farr—a true powerhouse who commanded the stage with her raw, electrifying story. Her resilience, passion, and fire were contagious, igniting a spark in every heart.
✨ Melonie Barnaby —a phenomenal poet who worked magic in real-time, asking the audience for words and weaving them into a soul-stirring poem right before our eyes. The energy was electric—a moment of pure connection, empowerment, and sisterhood.

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any more dynamic, a flash mob dance crew lit up the room, turning it into a full-blown celebration of womanhood. Hugs were everywhere, encouragement was overflowing, and the love in the space was simply unforgettable.

My Mummy: The Backbone of My Strength

At 76, my mummy is the epitome of resilience and grace. She’s faced challenges, rebuilt her life from scratch, and taught me the power of perseverance. When she and my daddy lost everything at 50, she proved that starting over isn’t just possible—it’s a chance to create something even greater. As I approach my own 52nd birthday in May, I carry that same belief: life can always be rebuilt, and dreams can always be pursued.

My Daughter: The Future of Creativity and Passion

At 18, Ellanean is finding her way in a world that’s tougher than ever for young women. With social media pressures, career uncertainties, and an ever-changing landscape, being 18 today is no easy feat. But watching her discover her passion for graphic design, embrace her creativity, and breathe new life into forgotten vases for my florist shop fills me with pride. She is the future—bold, talented, and unafraid to create her own path.

The Power of Women: Celebrating, Supporting, and Uplifting Each Other

One of the greatest blessings in my life is my incredible circle of phenomenal women—a sisterhood that is strong, unwavering, and endlessly supportive. We cheerlead each other constantly, lift each other up, and celebrate every success, no matter how big or small. The power of a female circle is a force that can never be broken, and I feel so enriched, so blessed, and so grateful to have each and every one of these incredible women in my life. This month is about more than just one day of recognition—it’s about continuously lifting each other up, celebrating our victories, and never dimming our light for anyone. So let’s shout from the rooftops how extraordinary women are. Let’s turn every space we walk into into a stage of empowerment. Let’s make the world our oyster—and let’s make it the most beautiful oyster imaginable.
To all the phenomenal women out there—keep shining, keep rising, and keep being the incredible forces of nature that you are.

Happy International Women’s Month! 💜✨
