A few months ago, I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook reels—just one of those little moments of downtime—when I stumbled across something that stopped me in my tracks. It was Drew Barrymore, someone I’ve always admired for her strength, her growth, and the radiant energy she brings to the world. On her show, she was chatting with a florist when she said something I think many of us have felt at one point:
“The thing with flowers is, it makes me sad that they die.”
The florist responded with something so beautifully simple and profound, it’s stayed with me ever since:
“The job of a flower is to make you stop in the moment. To make you breathe, to ground you, to bring balance and harmony—no matter what the situation.”
Since hearing that, I’ve started seeing flowers differently. They’ve become more than just pretty things to admire—they’re gentle, natural reminders to be present. Whether it’s a blooming magnolia, a cheery daffodil, a quiet snowdrop, or a wild cluster of blossoms tucked away in some forgotten corner—I pause. I breathe. I feel grounded. I feel grateful. I feel loved.
Just yesterday, I spotted a stunning patch of flowers and had to stop. I took a photo. I reconnected. Because that’s what flowers do—they bring us back to ourselves, back to the now.
And I’ve been needing that lately. Life has been a whirlwind in the most beautiful, crazy way. We’ve gone from a heartwarming Mother’s Day (which was filled with lovely mums, daughters, aunts, and women celebrating together around the bench), straight into our colourful, joy-filled Easter workshops.
We’ve been creating vibrant Easter wreaths—complete with bright eggs, fluffy chicks, and bold spring blooms. It's been so full-on and yet so rewarding.
But let’s be honest—life doesn’t pause. There’s the next workshop, the next school run, the next appointment. The dog needs walking. The shopping needs doing. The laundry piles up. It’s go-go-go, 100 miles an hour, all the time.
That’s why I pour my heart into creating a space where people can slow down. My workbench is more than just a place to create—it’s a pause button. A chance to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just be for a couple of hours. A place to play, create, breathe, and reconnect.
I'm so lucky to be nestled in the middle of 75 acres of beautiful woodland, working from my log cabin sanctuary. Right now, the world outside my window is bursting into bloom—primroses, blossoms, hellebores dancing in the breeze.
Nature is reminding me (and all of us) to slow down and take it in.
So, let this be your reminder: stop. Breathe. Let beauty anchor you to the present, just for a moment.
And if you’re looking for a space to do just that, I’ve got some amazing workshops coming up—hand-tied bouquets, mini wreaths, sunflower creations, even a whimsical peacock wreath. Plus, we’re launching new women’s circle sessions focused on mindfulness, creativity, and connection.
If you’re not already signed up for our newsletter, now’s the time! You’ll find all the latest workshops and event details there and on our Facebook page.
Let’s keep celebrating creativity, flowers, and the mindful magic of being present.
