How Time Flies

How can it be that over a month has passed since I was sitting on my tree stump writing my October blog, and now here I am again, wondering where the time has gone? The weeks seem to drift past like leaves on the wind, yet they’ve been filled with so much beauty.

We’ve dressed our homes and spaces in all the richness of autumn—warm colours, glowing pumpkins, berries, acorns, and those stunning amber leaves that fall around us like nature’s own confetti. We’ve brought in the harvest and celebrated the quiet, generous magic that Mother Nature gifts us at this time of year. I honestly think this October has been one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in years.

We’ve lit up the skies with fireworks, stood in awe of the sparkle and colour above us, and then shared moments of stillness and respect for the brave souls across generations who have protected us. And now, here we are—on the gentle edge of the last few weeks of the year—starting to look ahead to Father Christmas and all the festive joy to come.

But something struck me on a walk through the woods today. Despite us humans living so tightly by dates, clocks, deadlines, and pressures, nature moves at its own pace. I stumbled across a tiny primrose just breaking through the soil—out of season, unexpected, yet growing simply because the moment was right for it.

And it reminded me of something important: we need to pause. To notice. To breathe. To be kinder to ourselves. If the primrose can choose its own moment, perhaps we can too.

So I’ve decided that my intention for 2026 is to slow down. To stop rushing. To appreciate what’s around me and to give myself permission to rest. Because now, as we race headfirst into the Christmas season, everything is coming alive at Thriftwood. Thousands of Christmas trees have arrived for Christmas at Thriftwood, the shop is being decorated, the fires are glowing, the mornings are crisp, and the whole place feels wonderfully festive.

We have workshops galore, and this truly is the perfect time to give yourself the gift of a little peace. Come along to one of my Christmas wreath workshops—step away from the rush for a few hours, be creative, have some fun, and make something magical to hang proudly on your front door.

As I always say: Give yourself the time you deserve. Be creative. Stop. Breathe. Take in the moment.

Because once a moment has passed, we don’t get it back—and those small moments are often the most important ones of all.

With love always,
Cerus
